HLTH 1603 - Health and Wellness Coaching Capstone


3.5 Credits

Students apply all evidence-based behavior change theories, methods, and techniques from the Health and Wellness Coaching Career Certificate.  Students conduct 50 sessions with volunteer clients.  Under supervision, students demonstrate the continuum of the health and wellness coaching process including but not limited to intaking volunteer clients, devising plans, self-analyzing pros and cons of sessions, and receiving feedback from the instructor.

Prerequisites: (3) HLTH 1500  , HLTH 1601   and HLTH 1602

Course Objectives
  1. Devise and implement policies and procedures for a health and wellness coaching program. 

  1. Conduct, document, and assess confidential volunteer client intake sessions. 

  1. Create personalized action plans that include goal setting, steps for goal achievement, and accountability structures. 

  1. Support volunteer clients’ progress using motivational interviewing techniques and clear communication.  

  1. Complete fifty coaching sessions of at least 20 minutes each.  

  1. Participate in a one-on-one feedback session designed to encourage reflection and any adjustments to coaching techniques, interactions, and documentation. 

  1. Co-assess volunteer client progress and evaluate the effectiveness of the personalized action plans. 

  1. Prepare a summary report on volunteer client progress and outcomes.
