RESP 1041 - Current Concepts II

This course is designed to allow the student to build upon experiences in both the clinic and the classroom setting. Using critical thinking skills, the student will be able to recognize the clinical signs, symptoms, and treatment strategies for: cystic fibrosis, pulmonary edema, neoplastic lung disease, AIDS, pulmonary abscesses, pneumonia, and interstitial lung disease.

Course Objectives

1. Describe the etiology, pathology, clinical signs and symptoms, and treatments for:

a. Cystic fibrosis

b. Pneumonia

c. Lung Cancer

d. Lung Abscess

e. Pulmonary Edema

f. Human Immunodeficiency Virus/AIDS

g. Interstitial Lung disease

2. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a group setting to successfully SOAP chart clinical

patient scenarios.
