WELD 1700 - Introductory Fabrication 3.0 Credits
Students gain basic skills in the fabrication of projects. The course helps students explore the use of layout tools and project drawings or sketches and emphasizes actual vs. estimated time and cost considerations.
Prerequisites: (6) WELD 1000 , WELD 1100 , WELD 1200 , WELD 1400 , WELD 1500 , WELD 2200 all with grades of C or better

Course Objectives 1. Create a materials list using dimensions on a given drawing.
2. Cut materials to size, while staying with in tolerance given on the drawing.
3. Fit parts to drawing specifications and prepare materials for welding.
4. Perform quality fillet welds and grove welds to the specifications on the drawing.
5. Produce a quality part using SMAW, GMAW, GMAW-P, and GTAW
