WELD 1100 - Industrial Cutting Processes 3.0 Credits
Students gain a working knowledge of oxy-fuel cutting (manual and machine), plasma cutting (manual), air carbon arc and plasma gouging, and other shop equipment used to cut material.

Course Objectives
- Discuss the operating and safety principles of manual and machine flame cutting.
- Set up, turn on, adjust, shut off and drain the manual flame cutting equipment.
- Manually cut straight lines, bevels, circles, squares, odd shapes, and use miscellaneous cutting techniques.
- Manually cut straight lines using alternative fuel.
- Set up, turn on, adjust flame, shut off and drain automatic flame cutting equipment.
- Set up flame cutting machine to cut straight lines and bevels.
- Discuss the operating and safety principles of manual and machine plasma cutting and gouging.
- Manually cut straight lines, bevels, circles, squares, odd shapes, and use miscellaneous cutting techniques.
- Discuss the operating and safety principles of the manual air carbon arc gouging process.
- Make straight line cut, gouge, remove weld metal, remove backing strip.
- Setup, turn on, adjust, and shut down SMAC (Shielded Metal Arc-cutting) equipment.
- Make straight line cuts using SMAC equipment.
- Correctly Adjust, and Safely Operate a plate shear, Band Saw, Cold Saw, Iron Worker/Piranha, and electric grinders
