WELD 2200 - Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) - Steel II


3.0 Credits

This course is a continuation of GMAW - Steel I. Students will learn fillet and groove welds in the horizontal and overhead positions and the application of pulsed-spray transfer, culminating in the student passing a Welder qualification test in both the horizontal and overhead positions.

Prerequisites: (1) WELD 1200  with a grade of C or better

Course Objectives
  1. Set the GMAW (MIG) welding equipment to perform the pulsed spray mode of metal transfer.
  2. Perform single pass fillet welds in the horizontal and overhead welding positions.
  3. Perform multi-pass fillet welds in the horizontal and overhead welding positions.
  4. Perform a single pass groove weld in the horizontal and overhead welding positions.
  5. Perform a multi-pass groove weld in the horizontal and overhead welding positions.
  6. Perform and pass a welder qualification test in the flat and overhead positions.
