LAWS 1509 - Ethics and Immigration Advocacy and Compliance


4.5 Credits
This course focuses on immigration fraud, the unauthorized practice of law, and state legislation on immigration reform. Topics include an overview of notary, immigration specialist, and immigration consultant fraud; the Board of Immigration Appeals accredited agency and accredited representative programs; and contemporary issues in immigration reform. This course also surveys Form I-9 compliance, e-verify, Social Security No Match letters, and Department of Homeland Security Enforcement through ICE raids and audits. Enrollment in the course does not qualify any person to engage in the practice of immigration law. Enrollment in this course does not qualify any person to engage in the practice of immigration law.

Prerequisites: (1) LAWS 1500   must be completed prior to taking this course.
