NURS 2140 - Adult Nursing IV

This course is a continuation and advancement of pathophysiological manifestations, treatment modalities, and nursing interventions through utilization of the critical-thinking process and subsequent safe-decision outcomes. It includes a clinical component.

Course Objectives

1. Utilize caring, clinical judgements, and previous experiences to implement the nursing process in the care of the acutely ill client. [EOP SLO #1 [ PCC] ]

2. Determine clinical practice decisions both independently and collaboratively that reflect professional values and knowledge of legal and ethical practices within the context of caring for the acutely ill client. [EOP SLO #2, [T/C]]

3. Utilize the research process and the concepts of validity and reliability and their relationship to decision making in acute care nursing practice [EOP SLO #3, [EBP]]

4. Discuss professional, social, political, economic, and technological issues from which the quality and safety of patient care can be improved within the acute care setting [EOP SLO #4 [QI]]

5. Evaluate the outcomes of own activities and acute nursing care that can improve safety and effectiveness in the nursing practice. [EOP SLO # 5 [S]]
