Course Objectives

Examine caring, make guided clinical judgments and use nursing process to implement therapeutic interventions in professional nursing practice within the context of family nursing and wellness promotion.
Identify, as a learner, how collaboration with other health professionals contributes to the care of individuals and families
Identify the need for research findings in nursing practice decisions and examine the relationships between nursing, human being, health and environment and the concepts of caring , power and empowerment, and autonomy and advocacy in family nursing practice.
Identify major professional, social, political, economic and technological issues confronting society that impact maternal child nursing care.
Identify the qualities of the maternal child nurse in the learner role with safety, moral, ethical, aesthetic, cognitive, intellectual and interpersonal dimensions.
Utilize appropriate technology for the delivery of nursing care to high risk maternal child patients.
