INTD 2100 - Rendering Techniques


4.5 Credits

Students explore the techniques of digital and free-hand sketching utilizing basic drawing skills, principles of conceptual sketching, value studies, and evaluation of various art media. Students review one- and two-point-perspective drawing techniques and explore the subject of computer-generated 3-D programs. Portfolio items are created by drafting, drawing, and employing selected art media and techniques.

Course Objectives
1.    Utilize the basic drawing tools and materials needed to execute professional-looking sketches and renderings.
2.    Demonstrate basic drawing concepts, techniques, and skills needed to accurately represent a room interior.
3.    Explain the importance of conceptual sketching.
4.    Create drawings with value in terms of shading, shadowing, and highlighting within 3-D interiors.
5.    Differentiate between quick-sketch and full perspective drawings and explain the appropriate use of each.
6.    Compose drawings via free-hand and quick-sketch techniques using the basic concepts of one and-two point perspective.
7.    Demonstrate the difference between a vignette and full perspective.
8.    Apply various types of art media in room rendering.
9.    Evaluate and select subject, materials and finishes, media, and rendering media for final project.
10.    Present colored perspective for final project.
