HLSM 1012 - Plant Physiology

4.5 Credits

Students will expand upon the fundamental plant structure and processes information that was introduced in Intro to Horticulture. Students will study advanced plant morphology and physiology within the plant kingdom. Students will have hands on experiments with photosynthesis, fermentation and genetics.

Course Objectives

Explain basic physiological processes that allow for plant growth and reproduction.
Explain how the structure of a plant makes its function possible.
Explain how plant adaptations (including life cycles) allow them to be successful in the environment.
Explain how the adaptations of the seed plants have made them the prominent plant group.
Explain how groups of plants are structurally more or less complex than other groups of plants.
Explain basic physiological processes that allow for plant growth and reproduction.
