FIST 2090 - Firefighter II 5.5 Credits
This course is the continuation of Firefighter I, and upon successful completion of the course individuals shall function on emergency scenes with general supervision. Firefighter II begins the entry-level education requirements for leading a team in emergency mitigation and/or hazardous materials response. Firefighter II is a national curriculum and certified by the state of Nebraska. The curriculum expands the students’ knowledge of ventilation, search and rescue, hazardous materials response, extrication and firefighting strategy, tactics, and tasks. Advanced fire suppression operations and pre-fire planning and occupancy inspections are covered in the curriculum.
Prerequisites: (2) FIST 1090 and FIST 2070

Course Objectives
- Implementation of the Incident Management System in accordance with NIMS criteria.
- Successfully pass the appropriate final examination as established by the State of Nebraska.
- Demonstrate competency in all skills taught in the course that include:
- Set Up & Use the Incident Command System
- Complete a Comprehensive Written Incident Report
- Use Radio Communication Effectively & Ask for More Resources Extinguish Flammable Liquid Fires
- Control Flammable Gas Fire
- Secure & Protect Fire Scene
- Vehicle Extrication
- Rescue Victim
- Conduct & Prepare Preplan
- Clean & Inspect Power Tools
- Conduct Annual Hose Test
- Test Fire Hydrant
- Coordinate an Interior Attack as a Crew Leader
- Demonstrate Fire Cause Determination
