FASH 2100 - Fashion Illustration


4.5 Credits

Students explore the use and techniques of digital and free-hand sketching using a variety of media to communicate ideas, concepts, details, and embellishments. Portfolio-ready projects explore sources of inspiration, drawing the fashion figure, rendering techniques of various fabrics and materials, and garment detailing.

Course Objectives
  1. Identify and utilize the basic drawing tools and materials needed to execute professional-looking sketches and renderings.
  2. Demonstrate basic drawing concepts, techniques, and skills needed to accurately represent a fashion illustration.
  3. Demonstrate conceptual sketching.
  4. Explain the method of obtaining sources of inspiration.
  5. Demonstrate illustration of the fashion figure proportion and face.
  6. Demonstrate illustration of basic construction techniques such as draping and tailoring.
  7. Describe the various types of art media relevant to fashion illustration.
  8. Demonstrate basic skills in sketching and rendering fabric, materials, garment detailing, draping, and tailoring
