AUTB 2460 - Collision Estimating II


3.0 Credits

Students learn how estimating affects shop sales, production, staffing, facility and profitability in the collision repair field. Students practice documenting collision damage in the repair shop.

Prerequisites: (1) AUTB 2450

Course Objectives
1.    Explain customer sales and the effect of sales on the repair shop.

2.    Describe the relationship and communications between insurance companies and body shops.

3.    Describe the use of new and used parts and why we choose new or used.

4.    Take pictures using correct picture-taking technique to compile documentation for claims to insurance company and repair shop.

5.    Calculate and write repair estimates on vehicles in lab.  Enter information in shop computer for office tracking.

6.    Take structure measurements and disassemble vehicle for assessment of collision damage.

7.    Discuss body shop accounting, including creating and reading spread sheets.

8.    Explain the terms cycle time and lean management in collision repair.
