AUTB 2450 - Collision Estimating I

Students learn the systematic approach to analyzing collision damage and creating a damage report manually. It covers different types of damage, plan for repairs, repair or replace decisions, and use of crash guides.

Course Objectives
1.    Describe the function and importance of damage reports.

2.    Use a vehicle identification number and an information source to fully identify a vehicle.

3.    Explain collision energy management and identify different types of damage.

4.    Describe a general plan for repairs.

5.    Describe a sequence for damage analysis, and identify common industry part names and repair terms.

6.    Explain flat rate as it applies to collision repair, and decisions for each type of repair chosen.

7.    Locate and explain information in a collision estimating guide.

8.    Select correct parts and labor amounts from a collision-estimating guide.

9.    Complete a simple damage report on a manual and computerized estimate form.
