WELD 2520 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick) - Pipe I 3.0 Credits
Students learn basic pipe-to-plate welding, including techniques for single and multiple pass fillet welds in the horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions using E6010 and E7018 electrodes.
Prerequisites: (2) WELD 1100 with a grade of C or better and WELD 2510

Course Objectives
- Properly and safely set up Shielded Metal Arc Welding equipment.
- Prepare pipe for pipe‑to‑plate welding using various pieces of shop equipment.
- Produce quality single pass pipe-to-plate joints in the 2F, 5F, and 4F positions using the SMAW process, with 6010 and 7018 electrodes.
- Produce quality multi-pass pipe-to-plate joints in the 2F, 5F, and 4F positions using the SMAW process, with 6010 and 7018 electrodes.
- Pass visual inspection and dye penetrant tests.
