DIMA 2820 - Web Design Portfolio Development


4.5 Credits

This course is a capstone experience for students completing the DIMA Web Design degree. Students reflect upon, critique, and evaluate their skills, performance, and competencies. Students then use that knowledge, combined with instructor guidance, to plan and create a comprehensive portfolio that represents their technical and aesthetic web design skills. The course also covers job-seeking skills and tools specific to the profession.

Prerequisites: (2) DIMA 1520  and DIMA 1530

Course Objectives
  1. Create a comprehensive and professional identity system suitable for seeking employment.
  2. Select projects from previous classes that will comprise a professional portfolio according to industry expectations for entry-level employment.
  3. Revise selected projects and/or create additional work as needed for final portfolio.
  4. Research and select a web-based portfolio framework.
  5. Create final web-based portfolio using selected framework that showcases web design skills, and reflects career goals.
  6. Present a portfolio to a professional creative.
  7. Participate in a portfolio review.
  8. Implement job seeking techniques specific to the professional creative industry.
  9. Explain the basics of financial and contractual issues with regard to self-employment and employment within the creative industry.
