In this program students become board-eligible health and wellness coaches who support individuals in achieving sustainable lifestyle changes. Grounded in NBHWC-aligned standards (National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching), the program emphasizes ethical practice, coaching proficiency, personal wellbeing, and professional development. Students engage in evidence-based strategies, structured coaching practice, and legal and cultural considerations for client-centered care. Graduates are equipped to contribute meaningfully to preventive healthcare settings and pursue NBHWC certification. Students must finish all courses with a grade of C or higher to complete this certificate.

 

This NBHWC-accredited training program prepares students to sit for the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) certification exam. To be eligible, students must complete the program and either hold an associate’s degree (or higher) or document 4,000 hours of work experience in any field.

  1. Demonstrate ethical coaching practices by applying the NBHWC (National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching) Code of Ethics and maintaining professional boundaries across diverse client scenarios.
  2. Model personal wellbeing through the integration of sustainable health routines and reflection on the coach’s role in promoting wellness.
  3. Design a professional development plan that includes a two-year NBHWC continuing education timeline and identifies coaching niches aligned with personal strengths and values.
  4. Create legal and ethical coaching agreements that reflect professional coaching best practices and address potential challenges in client-centered care.
  5. Apply core coaching competencies by conducting and reflecting on peer-to-peer and instructor-reviewed coaching sessions using NBHWC rubrics.
  6. Respond constructively to feedback by developing SMART goals and documenting growth strategies following Practical Skills Assessments (PSA).
  7. Evaluate evidence-based models of community wellbeing and articulate the coach’s role in promoting social connection, equity, and sustainable health outcomes.
  8. Demonstrate readiness for NBHWC certification by completing practice exams and developing personalized study plans.
  9. Compile a professional coaching toolkit that includes customized resources, reference guides, and reflections to support post-program coaching practice.
