Professional Health Studies Associate of Applied Science (PHAAS)

This option provides students who plan to make application to a four-year institution in the areas of health, emergency services, public service, and medical sciences the opportunity to customize their coursework to meet prerequisites for these programs.

All required classes for the PHAAS degree must have a grade of C or better to graduate from the program.

To earn this degree, a student must complete all required courses.
Total credit hours required: 91.5

Major Requirements - 36.0 credits


Complete a minimum of 36.0 course credit hours from a minimum of two prefixes related to health fields.

Select from these prefixes: HLTH, HIMS, HDIM, DENT, NURS, BIOS, SCIE, CHEM, PHYS, MDST, EMSP, FIST, PSYC, SOCI and ECED. 

Students may not use the same course to satisfy more than one degree requirement.

The following is an example that demonstrates a possible combination:

Option Requirements - 31.5 credits


Select 31.5 credit hours from any of the following health-related prefixes: HLTH, HIMS, HDIM, DENT, NURS, BIOS, SCIE, CHEM, PHYS, MDST, EMSP, and FIST.

Note that not all courses in the degree may transfer and students may not use the same course to satisfy more than one degree requirement.

 

General Education Requirements - 24.0 credits


Students may not use the same course to satisfy more than one degree requirement.

Depending on which Math course is selected, additional pre-requisites may be required.

  • 4.5 Credits - Or Higher
  • **Students making application to the Health Data and Information Management (HDIAS) program must take MATH 1410 - Statistics
