Manufacturing, Power, and Process Operations Technology (MFPPT)

Award: Associate in Applied Science Degree
Diversified manufacturing requires multi-skilled operator and production technicians to operate, monitor, and maintain various manufacturing processes. This degree option provides education and training related to manufacturing in safety, instrumentation and processes control, power transmission, maintenance procedures and programs, and quality and continuous improvement.

Associate in Applied Sciences General Education Requirements - 22.5 credits
The following are General Education requirements for an Associate in Applied Sciences degree (AAS). Students may not use the same course to satisfy more than one degree requirement.
Critical Thinking/Creativity & Social/Cultural Awareness
1 Course 4.5 credit hrs.
Select 1 course from the list of Humanities or Social Sciences courses under the Critical Thinking/Creativity & Social/Cultural Awareness General Education Courses.
Scientific Inquiry
1 Course 4.5-6.0 credit hrs.
Select 1 course from either the list of Natural Sciences or Social Sciences General Education courses.
*Students choosing a Social Sciences course to satisfy the Scientific Inquiry requirement should take a Humanities course to satisfy the Critical Thinking/Creativity and Social/Cultural Awareness competency.

The following plan is designed to be the most direct path to degree completion and is based on a fall quarter start. Students are expected to meet with their student success navigator or advisor to plan a customized course schedule that meets their specific needs. Program Level Student Learning Outcomes
- Be prepared both academically and experientially for entry-level employment in process operations or maintenance in manufacturing, food processing, bio processing, power generation, thermal generation, pharmaceutical, water treatment and other process industries.
- Appraise hazards found in the manufacturing, power and process industries and know the procedures and requirements regarding safety, PPE, and environmental issues.
- Describe core functions and operating fundamentals of advanced manufacturing, as it applies to various manufacturing power and process equipment including boilers, turbines, chillers, generators, diesel engines, fans, compressors, dryers, filters, motors, motor control and distribution centers, pumps, valves, valve operators, distillation towers, reactors, cooling towers, and other related manufacturing and production equipment.
- Apply mathematics, chemistry, electrical and physics theory as required for the safe operation, maintaining, repairing, monitoring, and recording of complex manufacturing, power and process equipment and systems required to operate and control advanced manufacturing, power, and process plants.
- Apply critical thinking to find, evaluate, analyze, and synthesize information to solve problems related to manufacturing, power and process equipment and systems.
- Interpret various drawings, then using appropriate measuring devices and techniques, demonstrate the ability to trouble shoot electrical, electrical mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and level, pressure, temperature, flow, and fluid control systems.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and workplace skills including communication (written and verbal), punctuality, teamwork, empathy, conflict management, leadership, and responsibility.
