Health Information Management Systems - Medical Coding and Billing (HIMC1)
The following plan is designed to be the most direct path to degree completion and is based on a fall quarter start. Program Level Student Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing medical terminology relating to anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical procedures, spelling, and pronunciation.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of health data technology and applications as it relates to current interoperability standards.
3. Display effective communications, teamwork, multicultural issues, human relations skills, and HIPAA compliance.
4. Exhibit information literacy and research competency.
5. Demonstrate appropriate problem-solving and critical-thinking strategies utilizing acquired HIMS methodology and mathematical analysis.
6. Illustrate proficiency in coding and billing medical diagnoses, procedures, and supplies common in the daily operations of a medical facility.
7. Demonstrate an understanding of disease processes and remedies.
8. The students in this program will be prepared to seek employment after successful completion of their internships as medical office professionals in Billing and Coding or Medical Office Management.
