Award: Associate in Applied Science Degree
This degree provides a strong foundation in current basic civil engineering techniques. Those planning to transfer to a four-year university/college engineering program should consult with an MCC success navigator, MCC Civil Engineering faculty, or university advisor prior to enrollment.

The following plan is designed to be the most direct path to degree completion and is based on a fall quarter start. Students are expected to meet with their student success navigator or advisor to plan a customized course schedule that meets their specific needs. Program Level Student Learning Outcomes
- Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in different engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- Identify, analyze and solve civil engineering problems by applying principles of engineering and science.
- Apply the mathematical functions of integration and differentiation to solve engineering problems.
- Prepare drawings and 3D models for civil engineering projects using computer-aided design systems. (Prepare plans, detailed dimensional drawings, design layouts and 3D dimensional models for structures, installations, and construction projects such as highways, sewage disposal systems, and dikes, using computer-aided systems.)
- Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
- Inspect facilities or installations to determine their environmental impact. Record laboratory or field data, including numerical data, test results, photographs, or summaries of visual observations.
- Conduct topographic survey and prepare map of land surveyed, including site features, water location and other relevant information. Prepare charts, drawings, and survey notes.
- Analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data to identify spatial relationships and display results of analyses, using maps, graphs, or tabular data.
