Students will learn to measure and calculate distances, angles, elevations, and positions for construction, mapping, and property boundary determination.

Course Objectives

Explain the history and professional role of surveyors.
Operate and maintain basic surveying instruments (level, total station, GNSS).
Perform distance, angle, and elevation measurements with accuracy.
Conduct traverse, leveling, topographic work.
Keep organized field notes and prepare survey documents. Apply error analysis and adjustment techniques.
Compute areas, volumes, and coordinate positions.
Locate parcels using the Public Land Survey System (PLSS).
