INFO 1018 - Audio Visual Tech Support I


4.5 Credits

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and skills necessary to provide technical support for audio-visual (AV) systems. Topics include troubleshooting and maintaining projectors, displays, audio equipment, video conferencing systems, and digital signage. Students will learn the operational principles of AV technologies and apply problem-solving techniques in practical scenarios. This course supports the IT Support Associate Certificate and aligns with industry standards in AV technology support.

Note: This course needs to be completed with a grade of C or better.

Course Objectives
  1. Describe the operational principles of AV systems and components.
  2. Troubleshoot common AV system issues.
  3. Perform basic maintenance and configuration of AV equipment.
  4. Identify and implement best practices for AV technology support.
  5. Support AV setups in classrooms, conference rooms, and public venues.
  6. Integrate AV systems with IT networks, including identifying AV over IP protocols.
  7. Configure and manage digital signage and display technologies.
  8. Set up and troubleshoot video conferencing systems and collaboration tools.
  9. Demonstrate understanding of audio signal flow and setup of audio systems.
  10. Discuss and evaluate emerging AV technologies such as AR/VR and immersive environments.
