EMSP 1108 - Emergency Medical Technician 2 Lab

This EMT laboratory course focuses on trauma and emergency care skills, including assessment, hemorrhage control, spinal motion restriction, and musculoskeletal stabilization. Hands-on labs and simulations prepare students to deliver effective prehospital care in trauma and special situations including; practice in safe patient restraint, emergency moves, transport techniques, and assisting with childbirth emergencies.

Course Objectives

Demonstrate systematic trauma patient assessments to identify and manage life-threatening conditions.
Perform hemorrhage control techniques, including direct pressure, tourniquet application, and wound packing.
Apply manual cervical stabilization and properly secure patients using cervical collars and long spine boards.
Demonstrate safe and effective techniques for spinal motion restriction in various patient positions and scenarios.
Perform extremity stabilization and apply a variety of splints, including traction splints, for musculoskeletal injuries.
Apply mechanical patient restraints safely and effectively in accordance with current national standards.
Execute emergency patient moves and safe transport techniques in simulated environments.
Assist with normal and complicated deliveries, providing appropriate care for both mother and newborn during childbirth emergencies.
