This course provides EMT students with supervised clinical and field experiences taught in EMSP 1106 and EMSP 1108 in hospital and prehospital settings. Students will apply classroom knowledge and psychomotor skills to real patient encounters under the guidance of licensed healthcare professionals. Emphasis is placed on patient assessment, communication, professional behavior, and integration into the EMS team.

Prerequisites: (3) EMSP 1100, EMSP 1101, and EMSP 1102

Course Objectives

Apply classroom knowledge gained in EMSP 1106 and 1108 and psychomotor skills to real patient encounters in both hospital and prehospital settings.
Demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment, including history-taking, physical exam, and ongoing reassessment.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, EMS team members, and other healthcare professionals in clinical environments.
Exhibit professional behaviors including integrity, empathy, respect, and accountability during patient care and team interactions.
Function as a contributing member of the EMS team under supervision, recognizing roles and responsibilities in both clinical and field settings.
Document patient care accurately and completely using accepted EMS and healthcare standards.
Integrate scene management, safety awareness, and clinical decision-making into patient care during supervised field experiences.
Reflect on clinical and field experiences to identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth in EMT practice.
