HLSM 104F - Market Farming Fall

Students will study the principles and skills needed to operate a market farm. Students analyze the characteristics and operational feasibility of different products. Students participate in hands-on, seasonally relevant experiences from different aspects of market farm operations.

Prerequisites: (1) HLSM 1010 and HLSM 1011 must be completed prior to this course.

Course Objectives

Compare different animal species characteristics, nutrition and housing, health and hygiene, and stock sources
Identify production crops by their common and botanical names
Recognize the unique morphological structures between different production plants
Evaluate the cultural and physical care requirements of fruit of production plants of the region
Compare alternative farming certifications
