HLSM 1031 - Floral Design 2


4.5 Credits

Students will learn and use design skills to create and analyze advanced floral compositions.  Students will create compositions based on geometric, traditional, Oriental, European and American Designs.  Students will design and decorate with cut flowers, potted plants, permanent botanicals and learn to price each design they create.

Prerequisites: (1) HLSM 1030 must be completed prior to this course.

Course Objectives
  1. Investigate historical design styles with geometric, traditional, Oriental, European & American origins
  2. ID, properly name & process flowers/foliage used in geometric, traditional, Oriental, European & American designs
  3. Create a variety of geometric, traditional, Oriental, European and American designs and calculate cost of each design
  4. Create basic floral designs to wear and carry and calculate cost of each design
  5. Create basic vase designs and calculate cost of each design
