MCAP 2120 - Automotive 5: Driveline Repair 12.0 Credits
Students gain knowledge and skills to diagnose and repair manual and automatic transmissions. Students learn clutch and differential repairs. Students have the opportunity to remove and install a transmission and a transaxle. This class provides more advanced repair opportunities including driveline vibration diagnosis and repair.
Prerequisites: (2) MCAP 1110 and MCAP 1120 with a grade of “C” or better.

Course Objectives
- Isolate and diagnose sources of vibrations. (PO1)
- Diagnose and perform manual transmission/transaxle disassembles and reassembles. (PO6)
- Investigate the operation and diagnosis of a differential assembly. (PO6)
- Analyze the operation of four-wheel/all-wheel drive systems. (PO6)
- Identify and confirm operation of components related to the electronically controlled automatic transmissions. (PO6)
- Identify and perform overhaul procedures for automatic transmissions and transaxles. (PO6)
