MCAP 2110 - Automotive 4: Engine Repair

Students learn knowledge and skills needed to remove and replace engines. Students have the opportunity to overhaul an engine, including inspection and repair of sub-components. Students expand their knowledge and skills to diagnose, replace, or repair air conditioning compressors and condensers.

Course Objectives
1. Measure various trainer components and engine parts using measuring instruments common to the automotive trade both U.S. and metric. (PO1)

2. Use diagnostic tools to perform common diagnostic tests on engines. (PO4)

3. Apply service manual procedures for proper removal, inspection, and cleaning of engine components. (PO2)

4. Apply service manual procedures for proper inspection, diagnosis, removal, and installation of engine cooling system components. (PO2)

5. Apply service manual procedures for proper disassembly, inspection, reconditioning and reassembly of the lower end of engine. (PO2)

6. Apply service manual procedures for proper disassembly, inspection, reconditioning and reassembly of the cylinder head and timing component. (PO4)
