MFGT 2310 - Facilities Operations I 4.5 Credits
This course introduces students to skills generally required for entry-level employment in a steam power plant. Topics include the generation of steam, valves, and piping used in the power plant; thermodynamics and heat transfer; pump theory and design; and water purification and treatment.

Course Objectives
- Describe equipment and systems as it relates to the operation and maintenance of a critical facility or power plant.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the various types of piping and piping systems used in critical facilities and industrial plants.
- Describe the various valves and valve operators used in critical facilities and the power industry
- Describe the various pumps, and explain the pump theory, and pump design as it relates to equipment, operation, and maintenance of a critical facility.
- Explain the science of thermodynamics and heat transfer as it relates to equipment, operation, and maintenance of a critical facility.
- Demonstrate an understanding of water filtration, water treatment theory, methods, tests, and procedures.
