CNST 1230 - Cabinetmaking

Students apply cabinet design standards to craft cabinets completely with drawers and doors. Students also analyze drawings for effective design and fabrication of cabinets. In addition, students develop refined precision skills for carpentry.

Course Objectives
1. Interpret shop drawings and blueprints related to cabinetry.

2. Identify and apply common cabinet design standards.

3. Incorporate accessory moldings into cabinet design.

4. Create a cut list and an order of operations for cabinetry construction.

5. Identify different cabinet styles and the features that make them attractive.

6. Fabricate, finish, and install cabinets using industry standards.

7. Fabricate, finish, and install drawers using industry standards.

8. Fabricate, finish, and install doors using industry standards.

9. Explain and apply safe set up, adjustments, and maintenance of specialty power and hand tools for the use of creating cabinets.
