JAPN 1010 - Beginning Japanese I 7.5 Credits
This course is the first of two sequential quarter courses that comprise a traditional first-year college Japanese course. Students begin to learn basic skills in pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Course Objectives
- Use basic, daily Japanese vocabulary.
- Respond orally, or in writing, to elementary, “daily” questions.
- Understand elementary written passages in Japanese, when these are based on known subjects vocabulary, or cognates.
- Recognize and use the present and past verb tenses, both orally and in writing.
