HIST 2050 - Modern Europe Since 1789

This course studies the people and national powers which shaped modern Europe from the French Revolution’s beginning in 1789 to our global present. There is an emphasis on cultural, social, and political developments of the various European countries within the examined timeframe. Topics include the evolution of European nation states, World War I, World War II, Communism, the post-1989 establishment of democratic countries, and the current state of the European Union.
