ENGR 1010 - Introduction to Engineering Design

This course is an introduction to the engineering profession, engineering problem solving, and engineering design with an emphasis on current topics. Students learn using projects and group learning activities. It is recommended that students have high school math (trigonometry and pre-calculus) and high school science before taking this course.

Course Objectives

Learn about and participate in the engineering design process.
Learn about critical thinking skills and their role in the engineering design process.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams.
Successfully solve basic open ended design problems in a team environment.
Learn the current economic and technological issues with respect to modern energy systems.
Provide and explain the basic definitions associated with energy systems.
Perform quantitative calculations using the various units of energy systems.
