Course Objectives
- Describe the role of the stationary engineer in advanced settings. Identify large high pressure steam or high temperature water applications, with emphasis on high pressure high temperature.
- Analyze the design and construction of various large high pressure boilers, also the heating surfaces and capacity of potential with special components in the systems, using coal, pulverized coal, oil, or gas.
- Examine, in depth, theory and processes of combustion.
- Describe completely the required additional components required to deliver the maximum steam generating capacity.
- Demonstrate competency resulting from in-depth studies of settings, with combustion equipment, and heating surfaces.
- Identify boiler accessories that make it possible to have practical safety oriented systems.
- Define principles based on good practices and safe procedures, when putting boilers in normal operation, operating in an emergency, and idle boilers maintenance procedures.
- Describe the different principles involved with several types of pumps, pump maintenance, repair, and explain where each one can be applied to do the most effective job.
- Describe the various HVAC components and controls found in the stationary engineering field.
