INTD 1260 - Color Theory 4.5 Credits
This course is a study of the principles of color and application theories. Color relationships and application geared to selected creative disciplines are explored through class application projects. Projects use a variety of techniques to develop assigned problems.

Course Objectives
- Identify the characteristics, vocabulary, and theories of the Munsell color system as related to its application.
- Explain how color relates to symbolism, trends, and human emotional and psychological response.
- Explain the various relationships among colors to include color constancy, assimilation, separateness, intermingling, texture, and successive and simultaneous contrast.
- Cite the major Munsell color paths based on harmony and balance.
- Cite the visible and invisible attributes of color and light.
- Explain the relationship between vision and color.
- Cite the differences between additive and subtractive color mixtures.
- Identify historical color usage in terms of symbolism, religion, and popularity.
- Explain how color is used in branding, product design, installations, and printing.
- Relate differences in color usage among fashion, interior and exterior design.
- Explain the importance of the Color Marketing Group as it related to color forecasting.
