FASH 1000 - Fashion Design Principles 4.5 Credits
This course is an introduction to basic design fundamentals of fashion. Areas of emphasis include the study of basic principles and elements of design as applied to fashion design, fashion terminology, the design process, and the structure of the industry.

- List the responsibilities, goals, and career definition of a fashion designer.
- Cite the differences between international, wholesale, and retail marketing.

- Cite the important factors in designing a successful visual fashion statement to include apparel and accessories.
- Identify factors that influence fashion trends and styles.
- Demonstrate how inspiration plays a part in the creative process for the fashion designer.
- Define basic fashion terminology.
- Cite various construction methods used in apparel design.
- Identify textile fibers used in fabric production.
- Identify non-textile materials used in the fashion design process.
- Cite specific apparel categories.
