EMSP 1410 - Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support


2.0 Credits

The Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support course provides advanced instruction for every level of the practicing EMS provider. The course stresses increased knowledge of trauma to all body systems and emphasizes current assessment procedures as well as the most current trauma patient management. The course provides the student with principles and practices to improve a trauma patients overall outcomes and increased chances for survival from traumatic events.

Prerequisites: Student must be a licensed EMS provider; EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, Mid-level provider, or physician.

Course Objectives
  1. To provide a description of the pathophysiology and kinematics of injury
  2. To provide an understanding for the need of rapid assessment and intervention of the trauma patient
  3. To enhance the participant’s performance in the assessment and treatment of the trauma patient.
  4. To advance the participants level of competence in using trauma skills
