ENTR 2060 - Entrepreneurship Legal Issues

Students will explore legal issues related to business entities. Students will review contract law, articles of incorporation and the filing process, intellectual property, employment law, personnel policies and procedures, the hiring process, job descriptions, disciplinary actions and business insurance.

Course Objectives
  1. Compare/contrast the forms and formation of business entities.
  2. Identify the process of registering intellectual property.
  3. Discuss employment law.
  4. Discuss contract law.
  5. Discuss federal, state, and local requirements for taxes, licenses, and permits.
  6. Research and analyze financing, buying, franchising, and selling a business.
  7. Identify legal aspects of customer relations, customer payments, consumer credit, and account collections for the business.
  8. Evaluate legal aspects of marketing/advertising for the business.
  9. Identify factors impacting financially troubled businesses.
  10. Compare business insurance costs and options.
