SPAN 1120 - Elementary Spanish II

Students continue to focus on the skills begun in SPAN 1110 . The course covers past tenses and subjunctive mood as well as Spanish-speaking cultures.

Course Objectives
1.      Demonstrate through written and oral tests, an elementary level of language proficiency in Spanish in the skill areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing as well as cultural awareness of the Spanish speaking areas in the world. 
2.      Extend speaking ability by participation in conversation on familiar topics. 
3.      Demonstrate reading knowledge through short essays written in Spanish. 
4.      Practice verb tenses in present and past tenses, and subjunctive mood sequences. 
5.      Focus on four steps of language learning:
         a)  hearing
         b)  speaking
         c)  reading
         d)  writing 
6.      Recognize and use many regular, irregular and stem-changing preterit and imperfect tense verbs, both orally and in writing.
