MDST 2980 - MDST Externship 6.0 Credits
Students practice and perfect the didactic, psychomotor, and affective domains. Students also engage in activities to prepare for the (AAMA) National Medical Assisting Certification Exam. The experience will remain parallel in content and concept with the material presented in the didactic and classroom laboratory sessions.
Note: The Fall Cohort will complete this course during summer. The Spring cohort will complete this course during the winter quarter. Each cohort must obtain a grade of C or better. Students will obtain a certificate of achievement upon successful completion of this course and other program requirements.
Prerequisites: (3) MDST 2010, MDST 2030, and MDST 2120

Course Objectives 1. Integrate the Metropolitan Community College, and Medical Assistant’s Code of Ethics into the profession of Medical Assisting.
2. Apply administrative and clinical functions in the physician office setting.
3. Display appropriate customer service etiquette.
4. Problem and prioritize activities.
5. Function as a team member in a multi-disciplinary healthcare setting.
6. Demonstrate professionalism as a healthcare team member.
7. Show initiative and responsibility
8. Exercise efficient time management
9. Demonstrate effective listening and communication skills.
10. Successful completion of certification review materials
