This course teaches students word processing skills, medical transcription, appointment scheduling, and the scheduling of inpatient and outpatient procedures.

Course Objectives
  1. Upon completion of this course with, the student should be able to:
  2. Perform basic clerical functions
  3. Schedule, coordinate, and monitor appointments
  4. Schedule inpatient/outpatient admissions and procedures
  5. Perform medical transcription
  6. Perform word processing applications, written correspondence using various formats, correct grammar
  7. Perform proper telephone etiquette
  8. Understand, Identify, and perform proper patient interview techniques, cultural diversity, and appropriate dialogue among health care partners
  9. Apply bookkeeping skills, document & maintain accounting and banking records, accounts payable & receivable and process payroll
  10. Demonstrate and identify the components of proper office management techniques
  11. Demonstrate, identify the requirements for managing inventory and supplies, and develop inventory and supply list
