MATH 2510 - Differential Equations


4.5 Credits

This course covers methods for solving first and second order ordinary differential equations and first order non-linear differential equations along with applications.  It also covers power series solutions and Laplace transform methods.

Prerequisites: MATH 2411 with a grade of C or better.

Course Objectives
  1. Find explicit and implicit solutions to linear first order differential equations.
  2. Approximate solutions to linear first order differential equations using slope fields or numerical methods.
  3. Write first order differential equations to model and solve application problems.
  4. Find explicit and implicit solutions to higher-order differential equations.
  5. Write higher order differential equations to model and solve application problems.
  6. Solve a differential equation by means of a power series.
  7. Find the Laplace transform of a function.
  8. Use the method of Laplace transforms to solve a differential equation.
