Students learn about both employment-related as well as family-based immigration. Students examine the process, the federal forms used, and the interpretation of the laws covering immigration procedural and substantive laws.

Course Objectives

Identify and describe laws, rules and regulations governing US immigration and naturalization.
Recognize the various agencies that regulate, enforce, and adjudicate immigration law and explain agency roles in US immigration law.
Examine and analyze the immigrant, nonimmigrant, and special immigrant categories.
Describe procedures for deportation, removal and appeal.
Explain the naturalization process.
Assess and discuss the current environment of immigration law, policy, and procedure.
