HDIM 2060 - Supervision in Healthcare 4.5 Credits
Students study the principles of authority and responsibility, delegation, and communication; organization charts, job descriptions, and policies and procedures; and employee motivation, discipline, employment law, and performance evaluation. The principles are applied to health information management functions.

Course Objectives
- Explain the process used in the selection and implantation of health information management systems
- Utilize health information to support enterprise wide decision support for strategic planning
- Summarize health information related to leadership roles
- Apply the fundaments of team leadership
- Organize and facilitate meetings
- Recognize the impact of change management on processes, people and systems
- Report staffing levels and productivity standards for health functions
- Interpret compliance with local, state and federal labor regulations
- Adhere to work plans, policies, procedures, and resource requisitions in relation to job function
- Explain the methodologies of training and development
- Summarize a collection methodology for data to guide strategic and organizational management
- Analyze the major characteristics and types of budgets utilized by health care managers as well as budget variances
- Demonstrate how to apply different accounting concepts
- Summarize project management methodologies
