This course provides information relating to the features of design and operation of fire alarm systems, water-based fire suppression systems, special hazard fire suppression systems, water supply for fire protection, and portable fire extinguishers.

Course Objectives
  1. Identify the different types of detection and suppresion systems used in buildings for fire protection. 
  2. Understand the protection / system relationship well as the various automatic extinguishing systems currently in operation.
  3. Learn about past tragedies which led to the adaptation of these systems in occupied structures.
  4. Undestand the prioritization of safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills,
  5. Understand appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation.
  6. Organization/industry will also be stressed.
