FINA 2940 - Financial Plan Development and Case Analysis 4.5 Credits
Students engage in the capstone course in the Financial Planning program. This case-based class provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate competencies in financial planning and insurance principles, income tax planning, retirement planning and estate planning.

Course Objectives
- Communicate a comprehensive understanding of the content found within the Financial Planning curriculum.
- Formulate a financial plan that effectively demonstrates a comprehensive understanding, integration, and application of the content found within the Financial Planning curriculum
- Advise clients of the financial plan, both orally and in writing, including information based on research, peer, colleague, or simulated client interaction and/or results emanating from synthesis of material.
- Determine all necessary and relevant qualitative/quantitative information required to develop a financial plan.
- Analyze personal financial situations, evaluating clients’ objectives, needs, and values to develop an appropriate strategy within the financial plan.
- Demonstrate logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to a specific problem.
- Evaluate the impact of economic, political, and regulatory issues regarding the financial plan.
- Evaluate appropriate counseling and communication techniques for use with individual clients.
- Analyze how a client’s psychology, such as their financial comfort zone, socialization, money beliefs, and past financial experiences and behaviors impact their objectives, goals, understanding, decision making and actions.
- Apply the CFP Board Financial Planning Practice Standards to the financial planning process.
