CRIM 2320 - Correctional Facilities

This course discusses various case studies and research in an effort to present balanced and comprehensive coverage of prisons and prisoners. The course examines the many purposes of prisons, punishment deterrence, rehabilitation, and incapacitation as well as many controversial issues regarding prisons.

Course Objectives

Explore important issues that make up the prison experience.
Study inmate issue; race, age, gender, institutional factors such as over-crowding, AIDS, gangs, education, treatment program, women, and youthful offenders.
Research classic research and more recent research of correctional facilities.
Study the realistic view of what life is like for the prisoners.
