CNST 2140 - Job Site Management 4.5 Credits
Students go beyond the physical erection of a project and concentrate on the procedures and methods used by contractors during the construction and post-construction phases of a project: systematic planning, organizing, managing, controlling, and documenting job site activities.
Prerequisites: (1) CNST 1030

Course Objectives
- Dramatize the roles and responsibilities of today’s project managers and superintendents.
- Explore and record the use of the various documents used in the construction process.
- Create a working knowledge of submittals, samples and shop drawings.
- List and demonstrate the use of documentation on the Jobsite.
- Explain and discuss the layout and control of the Jobsite.
- Explore meetings, negotiations, and dispute resolution.
- Discuss labor relations and control.
- List safety requirement for personnel.
- Relate to working with subcontractors and related purchasing requirements.
- Define time and cost control.
- Explore time and cost control.
- Explore and list management tools available though electronics.
- Relate to the need for changes in the construction process.
- Examine the process of progress payments.
- List the process of closing the project.
