CHIN 1120 - Beginning Chinese II 7.5 Credits
This course helps beginners continue developing their communicative competence in the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing while at the same time gaining competence in Chinese culture, exercising their ability to compare aspects of different cultures, making connections to their daily lives, and building links among communities.

Course Objectives
- Converse fluently in daily situations like making phone calls, ordering food, making requests, shopping and birthday celebrations.
- Demonstrate understanding of spoken language in formal or informal settings.
- Demonstrate understanding and comprehension of the elementary textbook materials with the help of the Pinyin Glossary and dictionary.
- Read short messages or dialogues without pinyin.
- Write accurate and meaningful essays and letters, emails or notes in formal and informal language.
- Demonstrate understanding of Chinese language, its culture and history.
